My husband and I were scheduled to leave for Istanbul on June 29 to start our 10 day European vacation when the terrorist attack on the Attaturk International airport happened the day before on June 28. 25 hours post attack and after spending 16 hours re-scheduling planes, trains, hotels and automobiles we were finally seated in our first class seats on United and on our way, instead, to Rome Our very first trip together with my husband was in Rome back in 2009. In 2013 we took all our kids to Europe and we started that family vacation also in Rome so needless to say, we love being in Roma and it felt great to be back - just Peter and I revisiting our favorite spots in this beautiful city.

No matter how many times I've seen it - I can't help but photograph and marvel at the Colosseum
Why have I never done this - take pictures at sunrise! First, there are no tourists to contend with and second, the LIGHT is just so much better!!!
Making a wish at the Trevi Fountain sans tourists

Just love this quite cobble stoned alley

Walking along the Via Dei Fori before it comes to life
Alfresco dining whether it be in the ivy lined terraces and cobbled stone streets in Trastevere or the charming cafe's along the Piazza Navona, is an absolute must.
