It was only appropriate that we did Rich and Vanessa’s engagement shoot in Georgetown as this is where Rich proposed, on the circular maze in the waterfront park as a matter of fact, last April 2nd. I took photos of the lovely couple at the local Ben & Jerry’s ice cream shop to start, in and around the canal area off 31st street, Blues Alley and of course by the waterfront park as this is a special spot for them. The ideal shot if I was to incorporate the “maze” was to take it from high above but since there was no place for me to climb, we had to settle for shots along the rails with the Potomac River and the Key Bridge in the background. We timed this perfectly with the sun just beginning to set casting a nice warm glow around them producing my favorite photo from the collection…

Ben & Jerry's for some fun and ice cream - for my engagement shoots, I try to incorporate a lifestyle element like sharing an ice cream cone to start, so my couples can relax and get used to me and my camera being up close and personal.

Making our way to the waterfront

I had this shot in mind as I prepared for the shoot and specifically bought the yellow umbrella for a pop of color. I was unsure of how it would turn out... I probably should have asked the kids to stop playing for 5 minutes so I could compose the shot better as we were dodging water like they were bullets - I took a few pics and we got out of there fast, all three of us drenched to some degree -
